Grandma's mountain

My grandmother, Carrie Vanderbilt Hoover, started painting late in life, after she retired as a registered nurse.  She passed away at the age of 94 after spending many years quilting and painting.  This is an oil painting on melamine, hanging on the wall at my mother's house.  I think it is just gorgeous with the vibrant colors.  It was painted sometime in the early 1980s or late 1970s.

  1. Your granny’s work is imbued with serenity. I can feel the calmness through this picture. This is the thing about professionals; even though they are not recognized but still they like to do their work at par excellence for their satisfaction. I’ve seen so many professional essay writers, painters, and musicians lately who are well recognized but are true to their work and art form.
